SERVICES Pregnancy Testing Ultrasounds STI/STD Testing Counseling
Why do you need an ultrasound?
What if you have an ectopic pregnancy?
If your pregnancy test is positive you may receive an ultrasound scan the day of your appointment or at a later date. The scans are administered by an R.N. who is specifically trained in Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound in order to:
- Confirm Pregnancy
-
Determine Location of Pregnancy (inside or outside the uterus)
-
Determine Fetal Heart Rate
- Determine Fetal Age
- Determine Due Date
All ultrasound scans are reviewed by an obstetrician.
An ectopic pregnancy is a potentially life-threatening condition in which the embryo lodges outside of the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube. If not diagnosed early, the tube may burst, causing internal bleeding, and in some cases, the death of the woman. An ultrasound will identify the location of the baby.
